Engineers Week

A big thanks to everyone who participated in Houston Engineers Week!  A few highlights:

  • Kingwood Middle School won the Regional Future Cities Competition and went on to Washington D.C. to participate at the National Level.  They won 6th place in the nation!
  • After the local MATHCOUNTS Competition, five schools from the Houston area (Ft. Settlement, First Colony, Harmony School of Excellence, Beckendorff and Quail Valley) will go on to compete at the state level in Austin in March.  From there, the top 4 students out of all the state competitors will become the Texas team to go to the National Competition in Orlando in May.
  • Sixteen engineering organizations awarded their young members at the Young Engineer of the Year Dinner.
  • Scholarships were given to six students from Rice, University of Houston and Prairie View A&M at the Student Awards Luncheon.
  • Mrs. Barfield was recognized at the Greater Houston Chapter Auxiliary Brunch at the home of Mrs. Shirley Dannenbaum.
  • There was a great turnout to honor Larry Barfield, P.E. at the Engineer of the Year Dinner at the conclusion of Houston Engineers Week.
