Program Committee's Mission: Quality programs that appeal to the membership are essential to the continued strength of the Society. Programs can include meetings, seminars, workshops, etc. National views programs in the larger sense to address such items as education, readiness, infrastructure, environment, partnerships and research to name a few. In the Houston-Galveston Post we have formed separate committees to address these specifically and utilize our Programs Committee to address our monthly meetings.

Individual Membership Individual Members are over 21,000 civilians and over 4,500 officers of the Armed Forces, Army Corps of Engineers, Naval Civil Engineering Corps, Air Force Engineering and Services, Marines, Coast Guard, and National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. They are in professional practice in all fields of industry, education and government service. Society Beginnings | Certificate Of Incorporation | Society Charter | Colors & Insignia National SAME Site : http://www.same.org Society Beginnings April 6, 1917, found only a few hundred professional military engineers on active duty with the Army. Although Congress had authorized an Engineer Reserve Corps shortly before, few had actually enrolled, and even fewer had undergone military training. With the Declaration of War, the Regular Army was confronted with the task of expanding its forces to several millions. Civilian engineers entered the service, and, by their morale, training, initiative, and ability, were, in a great measure, responsible for the enviable record made by the Corps of Engineers, Regular, Reserve, and National Guard in World War I.
