In 2012 the Houston/Galveston Post has $10,000.00 available annually for college and high school scholarships.
All Sustaining Members are encouraged to make a contribution to the Scholarship Fund. Contributions from other Companies and Individuals are also very much welcome.

College Scholarships

The Houston/Galveston Post awards $2,000.00 scholarships to college students that are dependents of Houston/Galveston Post members or members of the Texas A&M Student Chapter.
Scholarships are awarded based on a point system taking into account items such as class ranking, major, GPA, ROTC participation and other considerations.
Winners are presented scholarship checks at our July monthly luncheon meeting, usually the 3rd Wednesday, each year.

High School Scholarships

The Houston/Galveston Post awards $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating high school students that are entering college as freshmen the following fall. 
Scholarships are awarded based on a point system taking into account items such  as major, grades, ROTC participation and other considerations.

Engineering & Construction Camps
The Houston/Galveston Post annually supports the SAME Engineering & Construction camps which are now held in four locations in June and July each year.  The locations and dates for 2012 are:
  • US Army Camp, Vicksburg, MS (June 10-16) Application deadline to Houston/Galveston Post:  March 1, 2012
  • US Marine Corps Camp, Camp LeJune, NC (June 17-23) NEW THIS YEARApplication deadline to Houston/Galveston Post:  March 15, 2012
  • US Air Force Camp, US Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, CO (July 22-28) Application deadline to Houston/Galveston Post:  April 1, 2012
  • US Navy Seabees Camp, Port Hueneme, CA (July 22-28) Application deadline to Houston/Galveston Post:  April 15, 2012
These camps are for High School students who excel in math, science and technical courses and are interested in pursuing engineering in college.  These one-week camps are high energy, hands-on events for students from across the country and around the world.  The camps are led by a professional staff of engineers from both private industry and the military services.
  • Applications and additional information is on the SAME Engineering & Construction Camp website, www.samecamps.org
  • The Houston/Galveston Post pays ½ the camp registration and the travel expenses for the primary student attending each camp.  If additional students are selected the post will pay for the travel expenses.
  • These are highly competitive selections and only the best are selected by the national selection panel to attend.
